North Carolina woman charged with murdering boyfriend by hitting him with car, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The girlfriend of a Fayetteville man hit by a car in front of his home over the weekend has been charged in his death, police said Tuesday.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, a car struck 58-year-old Gregory Robinson late Saturday afternoon in the front yard of a townhome on the 1400 block of Tangora Lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said an investigation determined 25-year-old Sadie Covington intentionally struck Robinson and fled the scene.

Covington was arrested Monday in the 1400 block of Cobra Lane, approximately 20 minutes from where the incident happened. She is charged with first-degree murder, according to Fayetteville police.

Police said Robinson and Covington were in a relationship and living together at the time of the incident.

According to court records, Covington was not given bond. She made her first appearance in Cumberland County Court on Tuesday afternoon and is scheduled to return on May 13.
