FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A day after police said a Fayetteville woman not seen in almost eight months was found dead in Robeson County, her boyfriend was arrested in connection with her death.

Annie Lock, 27, was last seen on Aug. 17, 2024, in the area of Kiana Lane. She was reported missing on Oct. 10, 2024, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Lock's body was located in a pond in the area of NC Highway 72 West and Buie Philadelphus Road between Pembroke and Red Springs on April 13, according to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. Law enforcement announced Tuesday that the body was identified as Lock.

Tyrique Zavier Williams, 26, of Fayetteville, was arrested Wednesday in connection with Lock's death. He is charged with first-degree murder and concealment of death, according to Fayetteville police.

According to Fayetteville police, Williams was taken into custody by U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and transported to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office in Waynesville, MO. He will remain in Missouri until arrangements are made for his extradition to Fayetteville.

Police said Williams was Lock's boyfriend. He enlisted in the military after Lock's death and did not report her missing, despite telling her family he did.

"The Fayetteville Police Department would like to thank the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Army CID at Fort Bragg, U.S. Army CID at Fort Leonard Wood, and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office for their assistance and coordination in this case," Fayetteville police said in a statement.
