APEX, N.C. (WNCN) -- Apex town officials honored Nancy Taylor and Gabrielle Raymond Tuesday night, just over a week after the two women were tragically killed in their townhome community.

"It’s in these times that there’s so many emotions, so many questions, and then there’s the response of what can we do? What do you say?" said Apex Mayor Jacques Gilbert at the beginning of Tuesday's council meeting.

Town leaders held a moment of silence for the two victims, with their pictures displayed at the front of the chamber, alongside a rose and candle.

"I’m not sure if we know exactly what to say, but I know what we can do together, and that’s show them love and support and unity," Gilbert said, wearing, alongside other town officials, a black ribbon in their memory.

The water tower on Hunter Street was illuminated purple to symbolize healing and honor.

Taylor was the beloved Home Owners Association president of the community. Raymond was her close friend.

The man police say is the killer, Harry Hardman, is charged with their murder.

Search warrants now reveal additional details of the aftermath of the deadly shooting. The warrants say officers found Hardman's home in disarray, with broken glasses, overturned furniture and what appeared to be bullet holes inside.

Officers also found the dog that had been shot and killed upstairs. In addition to the murder charges, Hardman was charged with animal cruelty.

Apex town leaders will hold a candlelight vigil for Taylor and Raymond next Monday night.
