GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police have arrested a suspect after a woman was shot and killed in Greensboro, according to a news release from Greensboro police.
John Oiley Mitchell, 37, of Greensboro, is charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
At 1:41 a.m. on Aug. 11, police responded to the intersection of Gillespie Street and East Market Street in reference to a hit-and-run and a possible assault.
At the scene, officers found 39-year-old Tameka Ruth Minor, of Greensboro, suffering from a gunshot wound.
She was taken to a hospital where she later died.
Mitchell was taken into custody in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Tuesday.
