WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — Winston-Salem police arrested a man on Friday in connection to a fatal shooting investigation.
According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers responded to Eltha Drive on June 10 around 11:45 p.m. about a shooting.
When officials got to the scene, they found Rashad Akeem Sims, 37, of Winston-Salem, who had been shot.
He was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries.
On Friday, Jake Tywone Gainey IV, 31, of Winston-Salem, was taken into custody.
Gainey IV has been charged with general murder in the death of Sims.
He is in the Forsyth County Detention Center under no bond allowed.
This investigation is ongoing.
